One day trip with driver-guide to see the highlights of the famous UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Monasteries of Bucovina. The tour includes visits to the worldwide best-known monasteries of Voronet, Moldovita and Sucevita.

This day trip is the perfect choice to get an idea about what Bucovina means, which became region administrated by Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1785 until 1918 following to Russian Austrian conflicts.

First stop is Voronet Monastery, known as The Sistine Chapel of Eastern Europe due its exterior blue frescoes showing “The Last Judgment”. Of course, here’s the place where You will discover a lot about the former Moldavian rulers like Stephan the Great, who leaded Moldavia almost for his entire life dedicated to a permanent fight against the Ottoman Empire. Stephan’s the Great role was a major one in Europe’s Dark Age since his small kingdom was like a buffer zone between the Muslim expansion towards the Christianity of Europe, that’s why he was named by the Papa Sixt as “Athleta Christi” due his fights in name of Christianity.

In just half hour by car from Voronet the road will take you to another mountain village, where is located The Monastery of Moldovita, one of the first painted monasteries in Bucovina, completed in 1532.

Crossing Obcina Mare mountain, you will discover the late 16th century Sucevita monastery the newest between the painted churches.

Leaving Bucovina without visiting the traditional workshop of black pottery in Marginea to find out the secrets directly from clay masters, is not allowed.
